The Herstons

 The Herstons are all about spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ to those who do not believe and to encourage those who do believe through song and God’s Word. The members that make up The Herstons are Billy Ray Herston (father), Kym Herston (mother), and Chelsea Herston (daughter). They are from a small town outside of Lawrenceburg TN. The musical style falls under mostly Southern Gospel/Country Gospel with a twist.

Chelsea Herston is the only child of Billy Ray and Kym Herston. She was born and raised in Lawrence County TN. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in the 8th grade after a Wednesday night service at Gum Springs Baptist Church in Lawrenceburg TN. Chelsea started singing at a very young age before she could read and has been in front of a crowd since she was about 1 year old. A quote her grandpa Bill Herston would say as an encouragement, “Keep your head up, keep looking up, and keep smiling.”

Billy Ray Herston is the proud son of Mettie and Bill Herston. He has 1 older brother and 1 younger brother. He was born in Lawrence County TN. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in the summer of 1968. Billy Ray started out singing at 8 years old with his parents and brothers. The family group traveled and sung for 45 years until his parent’s health prevented them from traveling.  For the next several years, he only sang occasionally at church. Upon Chelsea’s graduation from college, Billy, his wife Kym, and daughter Chelsea decided to start back singing and traveling. Billy Ray states, “The last several years, God has opened so many doors for us. It has been very exciting just sitting back and watch God work.”

Kym Herston is the proud daughter of Carolyn Brown (stepdad W.C. Brown) and Sonny Holley (stepmom Sheila Holley). She has 1 older brother, 1 younger sister, 1 younger brother, and 2 step-brothers. She was born in Pulaski TN but was raised mostly in Lawrence County TN. Kym accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age. Growing up Kym never sang before despite her family history of musicians and singers like her dad Sonny Holley and stepmom Sheila Holley. It was not until she got married in 1990 when she started singing and surprised her parents. She has been singing since. 

The Herstons have recently recorded their first radio single “Smile” with Johnathan Bond and Michael Lee who also co-wrote this song. The Herstons have sent the song to radio producer Randall Wilds who is working on getting it out to the radio stations.
